My daughter is very good in memorizing tables and most of the time she wins Table Dodging competition in school.
Not that I push them and force them to participate and win prize.
But if they are good in something, we must assist them in any which way so that they excel. It just acts as a boost for self confidence.
Off late she lost interest in learning tables, so I had to figure out a way to engage her indirectly in a creative way.
Again I pick up my calendar concept. This time it was for tables.
Here is what I put together for her .
I had to nudge her twice and thrice to use this. Initially she was not too pleased with a new calendar that too for something she already knows.
But once she used it with a friend, where in they were giving challenges to each other and solving it. After this it became a good fun pass time for her. She would pretend play with it, making her teddy bears as students and she would be the teacher. So teacher would give assignment while teddy would solve it. 😉
I was happy as my purpose was accomplished and so was my daughter as she was getting to use a new educational aid for her students (her sweet teddies).
Note: My daughter does a lot of pretend play as teacher, so many of the supplies I make for her are used during these games as indirect fun learning.
