My little one started learning addition and subtraction in school with carry forward and borrowing concepts.
She posed a new challenge for me.
She would not sit and practice her sum in the notebook. Instead she would play around with sketch-pens and chalk and write all over on the doors, walls and continue with her pretend play as a teacher.
I wanted to figure out a way where in she practices it on a book and also masters making columns for Hundred, tens and units. Use these columns to perform operations and carry forward and borrowing.
I designed these worksheets for her. Since she likes butterflies, that became our theme for worksheets.
Got some wooden craft items flowers, butterflies and wooden numbers.
We are ready to start our fun maths session.
Simple Addition performed using these worksheets and wooden sets.
Later i extended the same set to include word problem
This one was not very easy to use. It failed usability test. She did not like it.
So I designed a new set of worksheets for word problem, making it fully customized. So now we can make our own sum using this sheet as many times we want.
Now a days she is busy playing role of a teacher at home. She is the teacher and her friends students ( sometimes her soft toys turn in students). She creates new sums with these worksheets and her friends solves those.
And what am I doing. I am just happy watching my little one sharing her worksheets with friends and helping them in doing sums. There is no better way to learn than sharing your knowledge with others.
